The short version: VinylFreak does not require an account, does not collect your name or email, and does not sell any data. A random anonymous ID is generated on your device to track scan credits. Camera access is used solely to scan album covers and barcodes. Optional VinylFreak Plus subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled in your device's store settings.

2. What We Collect

We collect the minimum possible information to operate the app:

Your scan history and wantlist are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers.

4. Camera Usage

VinylFreak requests camera permission solely to identify records. Photos are taken only when you tap the Scan button. The camera also detects retail barcodes (EAN/UPC) while open — this detection runs entirely on your device, no images are captured or transmitted for it. We do not access your photo library.

Notifications, if you allow them, are scheduled locally on your device (for example, a reminder when your free scans reset). We do not send remote push notifications and no notification data leaves your device.

6. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment card details. RevenueCat is used to validate purchases and deliver entitlements to your anonymous device ID.

Free tier. VinylFreak includes 20 free scans every calendar month. Unused scans do not roll over; the free allowance refreshes on the 1st of each month.

VinylFreak Plus (auto-renewing subscription). Plus unlocks unlimited scans, subject to a generous fair-use cap that exists solely to prevent automated abuse — no genuine collector will ever reach it. Two billing periods are offered:

Prices may vary by region and currency as displayed by your device's store at the time of purchase.

Auto-renewal. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID or Google account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.

Cancellation. You can cancel or manage your subscription at any time:

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain Plus benefits until that date. No partial-period refunds are issued.

Top-up packs (one-time purchase). A US$0.99 top-up of 50 scans is available as a non-subscription alternative. Top-up credits do not expire and are tied to your anonymous device ID on this device.

Refunds. All refund requests must be made directly to Apple or Google under their respective refund policies. NeonSonix does not process refunds directly.

Terms of Use (EULA). Use of VinylFreak on iOS is governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement. Use of VinylFreak on Android is governed by the Google Play Terms of Service. The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind; album identification accuracy and third-party metadata or preview availability are not guaranteed.

7. Data Retention

Your anonymous device ID and credit balance are retained on our servers for as long as you use the app. Scan images sent for identification are not stored after processing. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting hello@neonsonix.com — include roughly when you used the app and any purchase receipt so we can locate the right record.

8. Children's Privacy

VinylFreak is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
